Meet Macy!
Coming into my freshman year and being an out-of-state student, I knew nothing about DanceBlue. But ever since my first week at UK, I kept hearing about this amazing organization that everyone was so passionate about, and I knew I needed to learn more. I was honestly in shock at the first marathon I went to in 2020, just watching how happy and excited all of the dancers were even though they had been standing for almost 24 hours. Then, they did the countdown and announced how much had been raised, and I could not help but cry. The amazing thing about DanceBlue is that it is one of those few things that has the ability to bring together so many different people for a cause that is truly so meaningful. This year I was able to participate in the virtual marathon and even though things were different, it was still just as impactful- hearing the stories from the families at the DanceBlue clinic and seeing the faces of the kids who struggle through so many battles is why I DanceBlue. DanceBlue is about providing care and support for these kids and their families, and just showing them that we care and that they are not alone in their battle.
I am looking forward to an amazing year with Danceblue, now serving on the Corporate Committee. I am so thankful for the opportunity to play a role in raising awareness and support for this wonderful organization, and I hope to contribute to making this DanceBlue as successful and impactful as possible for everyone involved. I cannot wait to spend the year preparing for DanceBlue 2022 and doing it all FTK!
Outside of DanceBlue, I am involved in the Gatton College of Business and Economics, serving as a peer advisor in the Graham Office of Career Management, a member of the Women Business Leaders Program, and a student in the Social Enterprise Pathway. I am also a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, and I enjoy volunteering for our philanthropy at the Ronald McDonald House on campus. Campus Outreach is another organization where I spend a majority of my time, and I have also had the opportunity to serve as a volunteer for College Mentors for Kids as well as Campus Kitchens at UK. Outside of campus involvement, I have enjoyed working various part-time jobs at restaurants and catering companies in Lexington, and I am currently an Accounting Intern at First Southern National Bank. I hope to complete the Master of Science in Accounting program at UK upon graduation, and to take the CPA exam so that I can begin a career in public accounting.
