Congratulations on finishing the fall semester! Whether you finished with flying colors or barely made it through, we are proud of your hard work and dedication this past semester and hope you are thoroughly enjoying the winter break. Winter break is a great time to catch up on things you may have put off during the hectic semester, such as fundraising for DanceBlue! However, we realize that it can be hard to know where to start fundraising, especially if your Facebook post did not give you the results you were looking for. As a result, we have put together a list of 20 fundraising ideas that you can use to get the ball rolling!

  • Babysitter Service: donate the money you make from babysitting one night
  • Bake Sale: sell your delicious homemade goodies to friends and family and donate the proceeds
  • Buying Hours: have people “buy” the hours of the marathon and make a social media post during each hour honoring the person who bought that hour
  • Car Wash: offer to wash your friends’ and family’s cars in exchange for a donation
  • Caroling: go spread some holiday cheer and collect donations
  • Cookbooks: gather your favorite recipes, print them out, and sell little booklets of them for donations
  • Crafting: make jewelry, ornaments, stickers, etc. and sell them to your friends and family
  • Email: email people explaining what you are raising money for and asking for donations
  • Holiday Cards: if your family allows it, add a slip of paper in your holiday card envelopes explaining what DanceBlue is and asking for donations
  • Instagram Story Templates: create your own Instagram Story template where people can donate a certain amount of money to buy a “box” or “object” on the template
  • Lawn Service: make your neighbors’ lawns look great in exchange for donations
  • Matching Funds: ask a company, corporation, etc. to match the funds that you raise (double the money!) or match them yourself
  • Merchandise Sales: design your own DanceBlue merchandise (t-shirts, buttons, etc.) and sell them
  • Odd Jobs: ask your neighbors, family, and friends if they will give you donations in exchange for doing odd jobs (cleaning, shoveling snow, organizing, etc.)
  • Pet Service: offer to walk or take care of your friends’ or family’s pets in exchange for donations
  • Skip the Coffee: if you find yourself buying coffee (or other drinks or snacks) daily, maybe skip it once a week and donate the extra money
  • Social Media Incentives: incentivize people to donate by saying you will do something when you reach a certain amount (dye your hair, wear a crazy costume to class, etc.)
  • Throwback Pictures: post your cringiest childhood pictures on social media in exchange for donations
  • Uber Service: offer to give your friends rides for donations
  • Using Your Talent: do you have some hidden talent like calligraphy, painting, organizing, planning trips, etc.? Offer your talents to people in exchange for donations
  • Why Do You DanceBlue: let people know why you are trying to raise so much money for this cause that they may not have heard of! Tell people why you DanceBlue personally and explain all that it does for the kids!

We hope that these ideas make fundraising a little less stressful and a little more fun. Whether you use the ideas on this list or generate ideas of your own, we are so appreciative of your dedication to helping the kids! Remember, the online fundraising deadline is February 6 at 11:59 pm and the cash/check fundraising deadline is February 7 at 4 pm. Please reach out to your team captains with any questions. Happy fundraising and happy holidays!
