The tremendous amount of funds raised for DanceBlue is achieved through students' solicitation. There are numerous methods of solicitation: friends and family letters, door-to-door solicitation, online donations, phone solicitation, and canning.
We encourage teams to be creative in their fundraising methods. Many teams come up with original fundraisers not otherwise listed on the website. If your team is considering hosting such an event, you must complete an Event Submission Form or Event Submission Form you may fill out the online form found here. By completing this form, DanceBlue will be able to help market your event by adding it to our website calendar. Keep in mind that these forms must be submitted three weeks before your event date and you must receive approval before hosting your event. Any money raised without the permission of DanceBlue will not be accredited towards that team's total.
Be sure to fill out and turn in this form if you plan on soliciting any company. Intent to Solicit Form
Pledge Books are a great way to increase funds raised for the Golden Matrix Fund. They allow potential donors to feel more secure in their contributions and increase the number of available donors. Donors have the choice of pledging a flat rate or an hourly rate. This hourly rate would then be multiplied by 24 (for the 24 hours of the Dance Marathon). These two are clear options in the pledge book.
Books can be picked up in the CCO (room 106 of the Student Center) at the beginning of the fall semester (instructions included). Remember, if you don't think that you can fill up an entire pledge book – SHARE!

It is the mission of the University of Kentucky Dance Marathon, DanceBlue, to create a multi-faceted organization that operates through the support and leadership of the UK students, faculty, staff, administrators, and the Lexington community. The organization enhances the lives of children and families suffering from childhood cancer through the Golden Matrix Fund, and therefore serves the Bluegrass by assisting those treated at the University of Kentucky Pediatric Oncology Clinic.
