Sponsor Your Own Event
We encourage teams to be creative in their fundraising methods. Many teams come up with original fundraisers not otherwise listed on the website. If your team is considering hosting such an event, you must complete an Event Submission Form orEvent Submission Form you may fill out the online form found here. By completing this form, DanceBlue will be able to help market your event by adding it to our website calendar. Keep in mind that these forms must be submitted three weeks before your event date and you must receive approval before hosting your event. Any money raised without the permission of DanceBlue will not be accredited towards that team's total.
Pledge Books
Pledge Books are a great way to increase funds raised for the Golden Matrix Fund. They allow potential donors to feel more secure in their contributions and increase the number of available donors. Donors have the choice of pledging a flat rate or an hourly rate. This hourly rate would then be multiplied by 24 (for the 24 hours of the Dance Marathon). These two are clear options in the pledge book.
Books can be picked up in the CCO (room 106 of the Student Center) at the beginning of the fall semester (instructions included). Remember, if you don't think that you can fill up an entire pledge book – SHARE! These have been graciously donated to us and should be used as efficiently as possible. Once complete, pledge books should be returned to Stephanie Fisher in the Student Center Ticket Office.
Canning
Canning is the process of UK organizations carrying DanceBlue labeled coffee cans at UK sporting events of all kinds and asking for donations from people passing by. It is important to be safe at all times and DO NOT ENTER THE STREET. A safe corner would be one that has a sidewalk close to the lanes of traffic.
DanceBlue organizes the canning opportunities for teams at sporting events. Teams that wish to can a specific event must request to can by emailing Brittany Meyer. For football games, four teams will be allotted spots around Commonwealth Stadium. These teams must stay in the allotted areas and CANNOT ENTER THE PARKING LOTS!!! For basketball games, all teams must stay in their allotted areas as well. Failure to do so will result in a loss of canning privileges for that entire team. All cans must be returned to the CSI front desk in room 106 of the Student Center by 5:00 pm on the following school day.
DanceBlue is also organizing a Lexington Wide neighborhood canning weekend for all of the teams. For this reason, we ask that teams do not can door-to-door unless on the specified days. As more information becomes available about these dates, it will be relayed to the Team Captains.
For specific rules in regards to canning, please refer to your official DanceBlue rulebook.
